Rug Groom, CFX, Crowd, RND
My highlight of this show was the rug; it took 5 days work to groom and apply lookdev to the rug, which was a timeframe I was perfectly happy with. After grooming the guides to have a similar flow to the reference, I made a tool (which I find myself repeatedly using today) which converts the curves into tapered twisting strings, which really sold the realism.

I was the designated crowd lead on the show, although work was sadly dropped as the clients decided to have less pigs. However, I'm proud of how much I'd learned mixing vellum, RBD and crowd of several pig animations, as it was a very complicated target to achieve. The agents began as squished marshmallow-like pigs inside a large pig, which deformed and sprung out of the larger pig as it disappeared, flew through the air (supported by RBD) then seamlessly (that was especially tricky!) transitioned into the crowd simulation animation, where they had crowd-like behaviour and would scurry away.
After building up my knowledge, I wrote Framestore Crowd FX tutorials, as well as had established a crowd workflow and scripts which I repeatedly refer to today.
Special Thanks
My supervisor was Tim Jenkinson, a lovely guy who is hardworking, kind and patient. I also enjoyed working with the animator on this show, who was also patient with my animation requests when exporting FBX!
